Nabaztag is alive

4504781 55Fe4078Da O I don’t know if you remember my last article about Nabaztag the wi-fi bunny. The article became popular as I wasn’t the only one having “Nabaztag syndrome”. The little guy was misbehaving and it didn’t work properly most of the time which was very annoying. After months of sitting on my desk being offline, I’ve decided to give my bunny a second chance.

I plugged it and tried to configure it to go online. I connected to Nabaztag and went to http://192.168.0.1 configuration page and activated it. I was waiting and waiting, but it just couldn’t get online. Three green LEDs on its tummy were flashing and the nose were flashing orange. That means that the bunny connects to wi-fi but can’t establish connection to Violet servers. When I finally lost my patience, I dropped an e-mail to Violet’s technical support. They suggested that I try changing violet platform url to 62.210.186.165/vl under advanced settings on the configuration page (my stupid self didn’t look there, nor did I know what URL to enter). It didn’t work at first, but after a couple of times it did. Finally Clueless came to life!

I was so happy to see my bunny being online again. I’ve also noticed that Violet has improved it’s website for Nabaztag and other objects. The new website has cleaner design and it’s easier to navigate. Violet has finally introduced RFID tags (z:tamps) as well as some new gadgets “Mirror” and “Nabaztag nano. I didn’t try them so I can’t tell anything more about them except it looks good in the demo video. More about Violet’s new products at: http://www.violet.net

    @afrodite: Try following steps:

    - Put your bunny in “all blue” mode (press his button while plugging him in
and when his lights are blue let go of the button)
    - Go to the nabaztagXX network in your list of wireless networks to connect
    directly to your bunny
    - Wait about 20 seconds then go to the configuration page at
    http://192.168.0.1 in your web browser
    - In the Advanced configuration’ section, make sure that Proxy is set to ‘No’
    - In the section, ‘General info’ (found in the ‘Advanced configuration’
section), replace the Violet platform address to r.nabaztag.com/vl , or to
62.210.186.165/vl if the previous address was already tried
    - Check that your rabbit’s firmware is indeed 0.0.0.10 (you will find it at
the bottom of your rabbit’s configuration page).
    - Press ‘Update and Start’ at the bottom of the page and your bunny should
    connect again automatically.

Hope this helps. If problem persists, you should contact Violet at: support@violet.net

Any idea what is happening with the Nabaztags since Violet has filed for bankruptcy? Is yours still alive?

My bunny is still working. I’ve heard that they will keep the brand alive until September 4th.
